Film
Blown & Cast Film:
Nutrition bag containing ADMER®
Multilayer blown and cast films are widely used for food packaging, such as meat & cheese packaging (partly with modified atmosphere), vacuum bags, lid films, etc. These special films contain barrier materials such as PA, EVOH or aluminum to protect the filling from oxygen, odors and UV-light and thus prolong the shelf-life of the packed goods.
Moreover, there are multilayer films specially made for medical applications, for instance bags for infusions and nutrition.
Some industrial films, such as air bubble film with PE and PA, also require an adhesive layer.

Multilayer bottles for fruit juice with ADMER® as tie-layer
Multilayer bottles & containers with barrier materials like PA or EVOH protect the fillings from oxygen and odors. Thus the product remains longer fresh and the shelf-life of the goods can be prolonged significantly. Moreover, the oxygen barrier protects sensitive ingredients such as vitamins and minerals.
Agrochemicals are often packed in bottles consisting of PE and PA.

Pipe
Multilayer aluminium composite pipes for sanitary and drinking water application.
Multilayer pipes consisting of polyolefins and EVOH, aluminium or PA are used in floor-heating, sanitary and drinking water application.
ADMER® adhesive resin creates strong bonding between the different types of materials, while retaining the physical properties of the base polyolefin.

Sheet (Cup & Tray)
Multilayer trays made with ADMER® adhesive resin
Sheets are relatively thick films, which are mainly processed into cups and trays by thermoforming. Multilayer trays and cups combining conventional polyolefins with barrier materials such as EVOH or PA are widely used for convenience foods, dairy products, baby food, meat, and many other types of food. Equipped with a barrier lid film, these packagings can significantly prolong the shelf-life of the packed goods.

Tube
Multilayer food and cosmetic tubes are becoming more and more popular.
Lotions, creams and tooth pastes often contain perfumes which must be prevented from diffusing out of the tube and – at the same time- the filling must be protected from drying out. The combination of polyolefins (PE, PP) and oxygen barrier materials (EVOH, PA, aluminium) offers an effective protection against these phenomena.
Moreover, these special tubes can be used as packaging for diverse food stuff, such as for instance mustard, mayonnaise and sauces.

Coating
Liquid packaging board made from plastics and paper
Coextrusion coating of ADMER® with other plastics onto paper or foil offers further opportunities in the food packaging area. For instance, beverages are packed into multilayer packaging boards combining paper with plastics. These boxes often include an aluminium layer to protect the filling from UV-light. Moreover, ADMER®-coated aluminium can be used as semi-finished product for the production of composite pipes.

Wood Plastic Composites
Wood plastic composites (WPC) are composite materials made from plastics and wood.
Standard polyolefins (PE, PP) are combined with wood flour, grit or cellulose fibers. Major applications are terrace deckings, railings and automotive parts.
Adding ADMER® as a coupling agent to the wood plastic composite improves the interaction between the non-polar PE or PP and the polar wood.
Thus, the water absorption is drastically reduced, the swelling and linear expansion is less and the mechanical properties, such as breaking load or impact strength, are improved. All these aspects improve the life time of WPC products.

Steel Pipe Coating
Coated steel pipes are used for gas, oil and water pipelines.
Main purpose of the coatings is to protect the pipelines from corrosion and weather impacts and thus to assure a long operating time of the pipe.
Common types of coatings are the so-called 3-layer PE (3LPE) and 3-layer PP (3LPP) coatings.
These multilayer coatings combine the different properties of three functional materials:
- The epoxy primer is applied - mainly in powder form - onto the shot blasted and preheated steel pipe. It provides an effective barrier against oxygen and thus a long-term protection against corrosion. At the same time, it provides strong adhesion to the steel.
- The PE or PP top coat, often high density polyethylene or a copolymer polypropylene, provides a high level of mechanical protection.
- ADMER® adhesives create strong bonding between the top coat and the epoxy layer. They are compatible with any kind of commercially available epoxy primers and PE and PP topcoats.
